About YMCA Gymnastics Departments
KFUM-gymnasts were founded in 1885 and are one of Sweden's oldest gymnastics associations. The association is also one of the most successful, with several victories and prominent placements at both the SM, NM and EM. For many years, the KFUM gymnasts were also included as a demonstration and competition squad at the Olympic Games.
KFUM gymnasts currently have just over 300 active gymnasts divided into competition groups, gymnastics school and family gymnastics. The majority are focused on competition either in MAG, Trupp or Powertumbling. The association has active gymnasts from 5 to 30 years old, which is a good basis for a fantastic cohesion and team spirit and a good camaraderie. The fact that gymnasts stay in the association also means that there are well-trained and knowledgeable coaches and leaders for the activities.
The association works actively according to the Swedish Gymnastics Model developed by the Swedish Gymnastics Federation. Within the model, the focus is on the categories "train and compete" and "train to compete". The Federation's Code of Conduct, in combination with the association's own values and traditions, is also an important basis for the activities.
