Fully digital ballots from 2024
It is now possible to hold fully digital general meetings. A new law entered into force on January 1, 2024, which means that economic associations, including housing cooperatives, and limited liability companies can hold their general meetings entirely digitally but an amendment to the statutes or articles of association is required. Furthermore, it was decided that if extraordinary circumstances require it, digital meetings should be possible without the need for support in the articles of association or statutes.
The decision means greater freedom of choice for associations and companies as they can decide for themselves what is most appropriate in each case. Holding digital meetings can increase participation and reduce costs as it is possible to hold the meeting without travel and premises.
It is now up to shareholders and members to decide whether to take advantage of the possibility to hold digital general meetings. All that is needed is an amendment to the articles of association or statutes, which can make it much easier for participants to do so.
In the Board Portal, it is possible to hold digital meetings with up to 200 participants. It is easy to invite participants and they can easily connect to the meeting via a link. During the meeting, you can share the screen if a presentation is to be made and it is also possible to send reactions, chat and raise your hand to get the floor.
